Welcome To The Summer Lake Basin
Introduction
Summer Lake is located in central Oregon on highway 31 (scenic byway). It is com-monly referred to as Oregon's best kept secret. Surrounded by green, yellow and blue mountains on all four sides, 30 miles of beautiful wide open terrain and a large lake in between, renders the community a certain type of independence from the rest of the world.
Aside from the beautiful landscape, and majestic wildlife roaming the hills, the com-munity and people of Summer Lake also contribute to its reputation.

FEATURED STORY OF THE MONTH
Summer is rapping up and fall is on the way here in Summer Lake! We've been having pretty good weather for the most part, sunny with blue sky as far as the eye can see. Haying is over for most of the ranches, except for a few that are still working on their third cutting. So as soon as the last rancher gets his hay up, we're gonna be praying for a nice fall rain. Here in the Oregon high desert, you take what moisture you can get.
If your planning on visiting Summer Lake over Labour Day, or during the holidays, we recommend you through in a nice windbreaker and some warmer cloths, as the Summer winds down, the weather could get colder, and the wind in Summer Lake has a large reputation. Keep your cell phone handy. If you know anything about Summer Lake, we are always more then willing to help our fellow man, whatever the conditions. If you find yourself in a tight spot, you shouldn't hesitate to ask for help, the people of Summer Lake are among the best you'll find with a strong community spirit, and we have a crack Volunteer Emergency Response Unit for the whole of Summer Lake.
However, with the fall coming on, there will be plenty of work to be done, we can look forward to a lot of long days working outside, getting things done before the winter. This means the ranchers will be working fences, getting vehicles repaired rather then wait till the last minute, roads will need to be grated... and all the wonderful activities that go with the fall season.
